Our History
A noble heritage of artisanal winemaking spanning centuries, where tradition meets innovation in the heart of Portugal's Douro Valley.
Built in the 19th century by the Viscounts of Lamego, Quinta dos Novais was originally focused on producing exceptional Port wines. Though the family coat of arms was removed when sold to the Hespanhol family, its noble heritage still resonates in every stone.
Long before the Douro was recognized for still wines, the Hespanhol family dared to be different. They believed in the unique potential of Douro terroir to produce wines of character—intense, elegant, and with a strong sense of place.
Today, with 3 hectares of certified organic vineyard and centuries-old olive trees, we continue this pioneering spirit with sustainable viticulture and immersive wine tourism experiences.
